Stormy Seas
-62° 31.543' W by 38° 30.918' N. Course: 90° Speed: 13.5 knots
The last two days have been particularly frustrating for everybody aboard
in that a student was using the wireless network to access his email and a
virus that was on his computer jumped to the server shutting our entire
network down. They finally got it functioning today, but they disabled
the wireless and it is right now working in fits and starts where it will
be up for 5 minutes, I have to rush to try to send something out, and then
it goes down again.
Right now, we are encountering some fairly heavy turbulence and nobody is
allowed to go out on deck. I don’t know who’d want to go out on deck anyway.
I do not think it is extreme weather, but it’s heavier than its been since
we started sailing. It is very cool to look at however, and any photo I
take of the water does not do it justice.
I still haven’t gotten seasick (Yay!) but it is interesting trying to take
a shower in rough weather. You have to grab this iron bar in the shower
with one hand, while you try to clean yourself with the other.
Nothing terribly exciting has been going on, although I was chastised at
one point for having both of the earphones to my i-pod in. That is
apparently a no-no since they want you to have one ear open for
announcements.
Last night, it was pretty calm out and when you stand out on the deck just
staring into the blackness it is pretty meditative.
And of course the library is still hot. The captain came down yesterday
and we discussed how to make it cooler which counter-intuitively is to
keep the door shut. We have been trying this though I have seen little if
any improvement.
Fair Winds and Following Seas,
Joe

Glad to hear from you. I'm sure a little rocking and rolling won't bother you a bit.
